NoveList is a continually updating electronic readers’ advisory resource which assists readers in finding new authors and titles. It is a linked library service available via EZProxy from many academic and public libraries. It includes titles, authors, publication information, subjects, book reviews, over 1200 theme-oriented booklists, 150 award lists and links to 1000 fiction related web sites.
The section for recommended reading lists is divided by audience: adult, teen, ages 9-12, and ages 0-8. The main navigation bar links are: Browse By (genre, appeal and, award winners); Especially For (Reader’s Advisory or, Working with Youth); Quick Links (Author Read-alikes, Book Discussion Guides, Books to Movies, Curriculum Connections, Grab and Go Book Lists, Feature Articles and, Picture Book Extenders); and an excellent guide to using the site, How Do I.
The Basic Search bar allows users to search by keyword, author, title and series. The Advanced Search allows for Boolean searches similar to other EBSCO database products but offers the added capabilities of searching by: award winner, starred review, author’s nationality, author’s gender, author’s cultural identity, audience, grade level, Lexile range, Lexile score, accelerated reader’s interest level, accelerated reader book level, and Dewey catalog range.
